Machine tools: between satisfaction and expected stability

The year 2018 was very positive for the Italian machine tools, robots and automation industry, which recorded double-digit increases for all economic indicators. The year 2019 will instead be characterized by substantial stability. Such trends were illustrated by Massimo Carboniero, president of UCIMU-SISTEMI PER PRODURRE, during the usual press conference at the end of the year.

in 2018, production grew to 6,900 million euro, with a 13.4% increase compared to the previous year. This is the fifth year of growth in a row and, in absolute value, the new record for the Italian industry in this sector. Such a result was determined both by the excellent performance of deliveries by Italian manufacturers on the domestic market, which grew (+21.1%) to 3,270 million euro, as well as the positive trend in exports, which rose to 3,630 million euro (+7.2).

In quite a challenging time, the Italian sector should however confirm also in 2019 the performance of 2018.
