Red Dot Design Award 2021 goes to the gripper
The Red Dot Design Award 2021 goes to the EGH gripper from SCHUNK in the product design category. This plug & work gripper also stands out due to its ergonomics and easy commissioning and programming.
The SCHUNK EGH gripper enables easy entry into the working world with cobots. The starter kit of the plug & work capable module comes pre-assembled to the customer and includes all necessary components for assembly and commissioning. Commissioning and programming of the EGH universal gripper are done intuitively and can be completed within 30 minutes.
With its flexible fingers and a variably adjustable stroke of 80 mm, the gripper covers a particularly broad workpiece range and is versatile in use. Control via IO-Link allows for the finger position to be individually defined and the gripper status to be evaluated for each gripping process. Parallel kinematics ensure constant gripping force over the entire stroke.
The intelligent gripper also scores in terms of ergonomics and design: its outside contour is rounded and equipped with soft-touch elements, making it easy and pleasant to guide. The individual status of the gripper can be indicated via an integrated LED light band, enabling smooth interaction between humans and cobots.
Red Dot Design Award 2021
The intelligent, flexible gripper from the competence for gripping systems and clamping technology convinces functionally as well as optically with its sophisticated concept and attractive design. The jury of the world’s most significant Red Dot Design Award 2021 was notably impressed and honoured the EGH gripper in the category “product design”. Jurors evaluated the design quality and degree of innovation of products from around 60 countries in a multi-day process. This year, more companies and design studios applied than ever before in the 60-year history of the award.
