The ninth edition of mcT Technolgies for the Petrol-chemical industry, the vertical one-day event held in Milan on November 30th, came to a successful close. The event, which brought together industry experts and associations, confirmed its status as an important appointment for all professionals working in the petrol-chemical and process industry, as shown by the over 1,100 specialized operators and 127 companies which took part. Professionals may appreciate new solutions and industrial applications even from a 4.0 standpoint, with the aim of receiving updates, sharing and discussing real-life cases thanks to the contributions of associations and industry players, finding new inspiration and working in partnership. And this year the event will also move to the Centre-South of Italy, with the first edition of mcT Petrol-chemical Rome announced for May 15th, while the date in Milan is November 29th.
Many vertical themes dealt with during the congresses
The event in Milan was enhanced by the simultaneous occurrence of other synergetic vertical events: mcT Industrial Safety and Security, an initiative dedicated to solutions and technologies for active and passive safety and security in highly sensitive industrial contexts, and mcT Cyber Security, an appointment dedicated to solutions and technologies for cyber security. But there was more: a very rich congress calendar. “Petrolchemical 4.0: innovative technologies for the design and management of plants” is the congress which represented best practices and tackled the main changes which 4.0 industrial development is determining even in the petrol-chemical and Oil&Gas industries. The works were opened by Carlo Perottoni, Saipem, who introduced the day’s topics, followed by Federico Mazzanti, also from Saipem, who talked about the importance of strategies, processes and instruments to create value by means of innovation in the plant design segment. Among other meetings, we would like to mention the one with Massimo Veronesi, Yokogawa, who provided concrete inspiration for the implementation of control systems considering the OT-IT convergence, while Salvatore De Rinaldis, Saipem, shifted the focus on opportunities for the management of emissions in Industry 4.0. Franco Briccarello, Danfoss, discussed the new MultiDrive solutions, and Salvatore Squillaci, Sick, presented smart products and services for the industry from a 4.0 standpoint. ABB’s Maurizio Simonelli in the end introduced new analysis systems.
Technical-application workshops with a vertical setup
There were also in-depth analyses in the Maintenance 4.0 domain, for instance, on the new frontiers for plants and their protection from atmospheric discharge. Great interest was also shown for the congress “Cyber Security for ICS – Industrial Control Systems” organized by ANIPLA (Italian National Automation Association). During the day the Safety theme was also tackled with the congress “Smoke Management in buildings and plants”, organized by ANACE (National Fire Prevention and Smoke Evacuation Control Association). The formula of the EIOM event, besides the morning session, also included an exhibition area where the industry’s companies, in the afternoon, were able to further analyse the day’s themes thanks to the vertical technical-applicative workshops. mcT Petrolchemical is organized by EIOM in partnership with AIS/ISA Italy Section (Italian Instrument Maker Association), patronized by ANIPLA and G.I.S.I. and supported by the “Petrolchemical Guide”.
