The first G.I.S.I. congress to be held in April
By Roberto Gusulfino, President, G.I.S.I.
“The country’s economic recovery through digitisation and ecological transition: the role of measurement instruments”: this is the title of the first G.I.S.I. congress, scheduled for April 28th-29th. Given the persistence of the pandemic, the event will be held on a videoconference web platform, and will explore four current economic issues for Italy, through the same number of dedicated conferences. The first conference, “The ecological transition: the role of automation and instrumentation, applications, opportunities”, will deal with this theme at the heart of the investments foreseen in the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR). The focus will be on measurement applications for the use of renewable and low environmental impact energy sources; increasing energy efficiency and reducing emissions; and protecting the territory and water resources. Digitisation and Industry 4.0 will be the focus of the second conference. The event will develop the theme of new digital technologies, and how they will affect the world of measurement instruments. Particularly, the spotlights will be on the opportunities and benefits offered by new technologies such as IIoT, Cloud, Big data and AI. This will be followed by the third conference dedicated to maintenance 4.0, fundamental for the efficiency of instrumental investment and to avoid production downtime. One of the central themes will be the evolution of maintenance engineering based on the availability of up-to-date information on installed equipment and the operating status of devices. To conclude, the fourth conference entitled ‘Innovation in Sensors: New Applications, Benefits, Safety’. Applications that bring advantages in terms of accuracy and availability of process, product and plant information will be presented. All this leads to improved control of the production process, increased safety and saving time and money.
