A new standard for mechatronic assembly
Schunk, the specialist in clamping techniques and gripping systems, will showcase a new assembly standard at SPS IPC DRIVES Italia: 24V technology, with the aim of explaining the advantages of this technology not just to its users but also to plant manufacturers.
By means of its 24V assembly module, Schunk becomes a pioneer of a technology which in the future, along with hydraulic networks and power grids >400V, should become the third supporting pillar of the industry, where flexibility, productivity and efficiency, ease in commissioning and low noise levels have become essential in the new productive and technological context.
The smart 24V program meets exactly these requirements. Besides an innovative 24V hardware made up of linear ELP modules, grippers for small EGP components, universal PGN-plus-E grippers and rotating EGS modules, Schunk offers users and plant designers a wide range of “smart” services which simplify engineering.
The entire engineering process – from the calculation of cycle times to the sizing of components, right up to the calculation of collisions – may be virtually reproduced with the help of “digital twins” and the simulation of complete plants in three-dimensional space.
Plants may be programmed even before the delivery of the first components. Savings of about 30% in the engineering process and a sharp reduction of the duration of projects may be obtained. As an alternative it is possible to use Schunk’s online assembly configurer. With this tool based on the eCATALOGsolutions technology by CADENAS it is possible to configure intuitively entire Pick & Place structures.
Rather than load each single component and combine it manually in a Pick & Place system, it is possible to load conveniently the entire handling with a simple click in the most widespread CAD systems, either in 2D or 3D. With a minimum design an assembly work it is possible to create the most diverse structures. An intelligent combination logic ensures that only those configurations which are possible from a technical and mechanical standpoint will be realised.
