Reliable Object Detection in Packaging Lines
DRT 25C from Leuze is a dynamic reference diffuse sensor featuring three light spots. The dynamic reference probe is used for reliable object detection in flexible packaging lines. Typical applications include the detection of objects on conveyors belts and in product changeovers.
Leuze lauches its new DRT 25C sensor in the Leuze S25 series housing (40 mm x 30 mm). This sensor is a new entry in the range of photoelectrical sensors equipped with optical solutions for the most complex industrial applications. The DRT25C is equipped with a triple-emission red light spot: thanks to this new solution of optical redundancy of the single incident beam, it is possible to guarantee the perfect recognition of every type of material with different degrees of reflectivity, irregular shapes and transparency. The 200 mm operating range, high speed response time and easy adjustment via the single teach button provide flexibility and robustness in a variety of applications in the primary and secondary packaging industry.
Object detection on conveyor belts of packaging machines
High-performance packaging lines require flexibility to handle a wide range of products and packages with different shapes, sizes, structures and colours. The leading edges of objects on the conveyor belt must be reliably detected regardless of structure and color. This is necessary, for example, to control the accumulation section at the machine entrance or to control the sealing bar in order to achieve optimum efficiency in terms of material consumption and throughput. The DRT 25C with patented technology reliably detects small and flat objects as well as objects of different color and shiny or transparent surface.
Smooth product changeovers in packaging lines
In order to meet the demands of increasingly differentiated small production batches, speed and efficiency in size changeover become central elements in the economy of the entire packaging line. A change of grade in the production process (product or packaging change) should be possible with minimum set-up effort. In this case, thanks to the unique technology of the new DRT25C, the sensor does not need to be reteached when changing the type; no further setup is required. This makes flexible packaging even more efficient.
