The New Business Models are Generated by Team Work
Resulting from the synergy of three companies, Siemens, Pneumax (the prime contractor) and Telmotor, the new MLGA multi-axis positioning system for geometric alignments is equipped with innovative technology to provide an advanced solution in the body work segment: a concrete example of added value supply chain.

Three primary concerns such as Siemens, Pneumax and Telmotor started off a fruitful partnership for the development of a multi-axis positioning system for geometric alignments which offers an advanced solution for a particularly relevant application in the body in white segment.
Siemens and Pneumax need no introduction. Telmotor, the third company involved, has been specialized for more than thirty years in electric supplies and in the distribution of quality products and brands for industrial automation.
The synergy between the three companies, each on the cutting edge in its own segment, allowed to develop an innovative solution which makes use of the components created by Pneumax, the Siemens motorization systems used for electric actuators as well as the competence which Siemens has in the automotive sector, especially in BiW.
A concrete example of a new business model
The partnership by Pneumax, Telmotor and Siemens is an example of how the business model is evolving in industrial sectors and of how, in order to face this change of paradigm in the best possible way, it is necessary to work increasingly in an “added value supply chain” outlook, where all players, in coordination with the other partners, help by means of their know-how in increasing the value perceived by the final client.
The prime contractor in this project was Pneumax, a company which has diversified competences, capable of providing the client not just with electric actuators and locating pin units created by its “Pneumax Automotive” division, but with complete motorized systems, equipped with smart technologies, control logic, touch screen operating panel and switchgear.
The choice of Siemens for the integration of the motors and for all the control and management logic is linked to various factors. Besides the innovative software solutions, the competence in the development of mechatronic solutions and the ease of integration of its components in existing lines, Siemens also ensures a constant support in all phases of the application’s implementation, thanks to its capillary presence on the territory.
In parallel, Telmotor provided the experience of a system integrator capable of combining the Industry 4.0 enabling technologies offered by Siemens, in an application where not only mechanics, but also control electronics and operating parameter management are fundamental to increase the efficiency of the entire system.
A digital solution from an Industry 4.0 standpoint
The MLGA system is equipped with the most innovative digital solutions, capable of enabling such services as predictive maintenance, created exploiting the Simatic IoT2040 platform by Siemens which detects, processes and makes available on the Cloud all parameters needed to act upon the constant optimization of the machine, preventing downtimes and losses in efficiency. Besides, the MLGA system makes use of augmented reality to help the management of the single components. The main elements which make up the application are linked to labels which allow the operator, using a mobile device, the Siemens ITP1000 industrial table, to frame the 3D model of the component and to track analyses or carry out real-time surveys in a practical and immediate way.
